HINDU STUDENTS CLUB

HSC offers students the opportunity to connect, explore Hindu values, celebrate festivals and promote cultural awareness. The hope is to create a mindful community that embraces Hindu principles such as love, honesty, non-violence, and tolerance, and use these timeless teachings to navigate modern challenges, bringing peace and harmony into their lives. We aim to inspire other teens to establish similar clubs at their schools.

Hindu Students Club (HSC) was launched in the fall of 2023 at UHigh, the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools to focus on the following objectives and goals:

  • To provide a platform and community to Hindu students and others interested

  • Create awareness about Hindu values and beliefs

  • Focus on Hindu restraints and practices as ‘life-management tools’ and inspire students to live more mindful and purposeful life

  • Promote cultural awareness and mutual respect among all students

  • Enjoy celebrating vibrant and colorful festivals together

HSC conducts weekly meetings to actively pursue its goals and has undertaken the following initiatives:

Conducted presentations and interactive discussions on Hindu teachings and principles such as dharma, karma, reincarnation, ahimsa etc.

Initiative to support HSC and HTT

After HSC had a successful first year, it inspired Aran to explore the idea of expanding HSC, collaborating with other high schoolers and similar clubs. To achieve these goals, he decided to pursue the role of Dharma Ambassador.

In the summer of 2024, Aran successfully completed the Dharma Ambassadors Program Online by Hindu American Foundation and became a committed spokesperson for the international Hindu community.  Through the program, he learned to be more engaging and creative. He honed his skills to connect with others and acquired strategies for addressing common questions about Hinduism.
